Dr. G. offers individual psychotherapy and strives to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. As a potential patient seeking services, understanding the therapeutic process is important. Below is a brief overview of steps you’ll take to receive services and our therapeutic process in addition to payment, location, and scheduling information. To learn more about Dr. G.’s qualification, therapeutic approach, and areas of focus, click on this link. Below is a brief overview of the psychotherapeutic process:

1. Initial Assessment: We begin with an initial intake session, where I will learn relevant information about your concerns, history, current situation, and discuss your goals for therapy. This may involve discussing symptoms, personal history, and relevant background information. The intake session helps us gain a deeper understanding of your unique needs to develop a personalized treatment plan and gives the opportunity to answer your questions or concerns about the therapeutic process.

2. Establishing a Therapeutic Relationship: Building a strong therapeutic relationship is vital. We provide a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental space for you to share openly. The therapeutic relationship is a collaborative partnership, where your experiences and perspectives are valued and respected. The first few sessions will primarily be spent building rapport and better understanding you, and your needs.

3. Goal Setting: Together, we identify specific goals you would like to achieve through therapy. We regularly revisit and adjust these goals to ensure therapy remains focused and relevant to your evolving needs. By about the third session we will solidify your goals and treatment plan to ensure that sessions are moving towards a therapeutic outcome.

4. Evidence-Based Techniques: Once your goals and treatment plan are more clearly established, during sessions we utilize evidence-based techniques tailored to your unique circumstances. I work with patients on a variety of topics, such as developing coping skills, exploring underlying patterns, challenging unhelpful thoughts, and emotional regulation. You can learn more about my approach here. In addition, if you have more detailed questions about our work in sessions (such as techniques, therapeutic approach, etc.) please ask.

5. Progress and Feedback: Throughout the therapeutic process, I will regularly assess your progress and discuss it with you. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the direction of therapy. I encourage open communication and welcome your thoughts on what is working well and any adjustments that may be beneficial.

6. Support and Empowerment: My aim is to provide you with tools, insights, and support to navigate challenges effectively. I strive to empower you to develop your strengths, improve self-awareness, and cultivate resilience. Ultimately, I aim to provide you with the tools and self-assurance needed to independently navigate life’s challenges. Please know that you are in charge and may terminate sessions at any point. Everyone’s therapeutic journey is unique, and I am committed to providing personalized care that meets your individual needs. Please feel free to reach out for more information or to schedule an initial session. I look forward to supporting you on your path towards personal growth and well-being.

Hello! I often work with people who think deeply, feel intensely, and process the world in non-linear ways…and struggle to channel their ideas into action. You may replay thoughts in your mind and see several possibilities, react on emotions and regret it later, and struggle with focus, distraction, or self-doubt. Some of my clients have ADHD, some wonder if they do, and some just know it feels overwhelming to be inside their mind. I’ll be fully present as you express thoughts, process emotions and help you understand what is beneath the surface driving your behaviors. We’ll explore the parts of yourself you’ve been avoiding.

Hi, I’m Dr. Hawkins! In my practice as a board certified osteopathic family medicine physician with over a decade of healthcare experience, I began to recognize a recurrent pattern in my patients presenting for common physical health problems who often had an accompanied underlying and unaddressed psychological condition. Upon further investigation, I discovered that these were frequently related to life stressors that impacted their sleep, nutrition, activity, work, mood, and interpersonal relationships. Utilizing my background and education in psychology, I integrated this therapeutic approach to patient care by emphasizing healthy lifestyle modification. In my work with patients, I recognize the strong association between diet, exercise, sleep quality, stress management, family bonds, cultural background, use of positive coping skills, and environmental influences on health. I was trained in the philosophy that the individual person is a unit composed of the mind, body, and spirit and the health of the individual is contingent upon the integration and the harmonious functioning of these three component parts.
